Ravi, here is another aspect of this issue. Dems taut the concept of equity in schools - the idea that students receive the support that they need, as opposed to the concept of equality - "every student receives the same (equal) supports. At the same time, they promote the idea that a large, highly bureaucratic public school systems, financed on the equality based funding formulas, and designed to provide supports for an "average" student are somehow the vehicle for the equity based education model. Almost all of the students population that is most in need of equitable support are essentially dependent on public schools for their children's education.

In reality, "public schools only' view on education is antithetical to the concept of equitable education. It is the school choice concept that is in fact based on the idea of equity - that a child has access to a school program that fits their needs.
