Corey DeAngelis on Vouchers, ESAs, and the Future of School Choice
I recently spoke with Corey DeAngelis, a self-described “school choice evangelist” and one of the most controversial figures in education policy circles. Corey is a Senior Fellow at the American Federation for Children, where he writes and advocates in support of vouchers and Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).
He and I spent the beginning of this conversation on common ground on high-level issues around educational freedom, and then turned to areas where we either disagree – or where we interpret data differently. I continue to believe ESAs and vouchers are among the most important policy issues in K-12 education right now (second only to artificial intelligence) – and came away from this conversation with more questions than answers.
I mention a few articles, books, and studies in this episode that you may want to read for yourself. I’ve linked them below.
